Kartoo search engine

Tonight, I was playing around with Maxthon search engine and came across another truly cool search engine. KartOO search engine is a French company that specializes in data visualization. KartOO’s interface is nothing like.. well, any search engine that I have come across in recent time.

Type in a search and your results come right away. I am not sure if this is a meta engine, or if it indexes. The results are presented in a 3 column format by default, with a screen-shot of the site at the top. Each column displays text information included within the site. To visit the site, click on the screen-shot, and a new tab opens up with your selected site.

An information column on the left of the page shows your favorite Topics and News items related to your search. You can change what you see in these sidebars with the arrow found on the top-right of the widget. If you want your search results in a more GUI fashion, switch to “See the Map” directly under the search bar. This option allows the user to view all links the selected search words, apparently sorted by relevancy.

The map is moveable and you can click on the icons to visit the particular site in question. KartOO is a top-notch search engine that provides relevant results with precision and aesthetic beauty.
